As we
prepare for the 2009 fishing season, a quick look back at
2008 should show us what we can expect to see this year.
Although
the spring striped bass season left something to be desired
as compared to 2007, we did experience excellent drum fishing.
Big fish and plenty of Black Drum was the rule rather than
the exception. First time anglers were catching 80 pound fish!
These
trips are becoming extremely popular, since it gives you a
chance at catching large fish while not having to ride a long
time to the fishing grounds.
Hampered
somewhat by federal regulations, we did catch Blue Fin Tuna.
These fish were all in the 100 plus pound range!
They
produced long and exciting battles to get these bruisers
on the boat and good eating afterwards.
Flounder
season was shorter than in past years. Cold water temperatures
and wind caused some problems. Although, when conditions were
right, we did catch the bigger fish.
Excellent
striper action started in early November, with some of the biggest
stripers since 1998. Chunking, or fishing bait in the Cape May
Rips produced fish in good numbers.
Along with
everyone else, Im very aware of todays existing
economic conditions. I will do everything possible to keep your
trip as affordable as possible. Also, for your convenience we
will now accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover.
High expectations
come with each New Year. I know you cant catch the fish
while the Gallant Lady is still tied to the dock, so, lets
get out there and fish. Contact
